Udine Office of Italian Secretariat of Medical Students (S.I.S.M. Udine), is an association involved in humanitarian, health and scientific activities. Its purposes are to start debates on vocational training for physicians and their  social and civil role, and to promote cultural and professional relationship between students, doctors and people. With other 28 offices, S.I.S.M. Udine is part of the no-profit association Italian Secretariat of Medical Students, full member of  International Federation of Medical Students' Associations with the shared purpose “to offer future physicians a comprehensive introduction to global health issues...with the intent of influencing the trans-national inequalities that shape the health on our planet".

 

Wolisso St. Luke Catholic Hospital and College of Nursing, situated in Oromia Region – Ethiopia is owned by Ethiopian Catholic Church, operated with the collaboration of Doctors with Africa-CUAMM, an Italian NGO, and the regional government, with special consideration to the poorest part of population, the staff training and the quality of  the services.

 

Udine Office of Italian Secretariat of Medical Students began  a collaboration with Wolisso St. Luke Catholic Hospital and College of Nursing in April 2005, with the following planned activities:

· Four-weeks apprenticeships at Saint Luke Hospital for medical students attending the fifth or sixth year of Medicine Course, following physicians in their duties;

· Support activities for St. Luke Hospital, and  awarness-increasing activities for medical students and population in collaboration with “Ernesto Balducci ONLUS” Association, Health Services Agency n.4 “Medio Friuli”, the Faculty of Medicine of Udine and other associations acting on International Cooperation.
